New Ulteo product: Ulteo Virtual Desktop!

May 19th, 2008

Today we unveil “Ulteo Virtual Desktop”, a “virtualized” version of Ulteo that can be installed and run under Windows (XP or Vista 32 bit). But as it’s not using any virtualization environment to run (Linux system calls are converted into Windows system calls by coLinux), the performance is close to a native system that would be installed on the PC hardware. The Virtual Desktop offers many applications by default, including Firefox, OpenOffice, Thunderbird and many others. Even games are available! Read more about the features and download now!

New release: Ulteo Document Synchronizer for… Windows!

April 28th, 2008

This is release time for Ulteo! Today we’re releasing a piece of software that runs on… Windows! (Vista & XP) It’s been designed to offer permanent synchronization between your data under the Ulteo Online Desktop, your data under the Application System if it’s running somewhere and your Ulteo Sync directory on Windows PCs, for those who have to use Windows. The software is very easy to install (I could do it myself under Windows!). Each time you move or copy a document to the desktop’s “Sync” directory under Windows, it will replicate (upload) to your Online Desktop account, and to your Application System installs (if any). Of course, it works all ways: UDS<->OD<->AS. Synchronization happens at startup and every 30 minutes for the free Ulteo account (and we have premium accounts if you don’t want to wait!). I hope you enjoy this innovative feature as much as we do :) Download UDS here.

Ulteo Application System beta1: ready for download!

March 17th, 2008

Ulteo panelAfter the recent success we had at providing OpenOffice.org in a web browser, we’re proud to deliver the first beta of nearly two years of work: Ulteo Application System “Sirius” is now ready for download on several mirrors. It was the needed “client” brick to the Ulteo framework that is made of several online services, and provides, among others, automatic personal data (and forthcoming user environement) syncing.

In this release, you will also be able to test the first version of the “My Digital Life” panel which is a new way to organize your documents and applications, and manage your system installations.
Enough said, read the release notes, download and test: we need your feedback! (note: if you are interested in discussing a “corporate” version of Ulteo please get in touch with us as: urgent at ulteo dot com)
